The plight of the fishing industry in the Baltic and support from the Commission

Question for written answer  E-000315/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Joachim Stanisław Brudziński (ECR)

A ban and draconian restrictions have been brought in on fishing, so why has the Commission failed to come up with any measures to support the fishing industry in the Baltic?

Scrapping has been the only proposal that has been brought forward so far.

Is the Commission’s only idea for the management of the cod fleet in the Baltic Sea to close it down? Given that the small-scale fishing industry is almost entirely dependent on cod, what does the Commission take ‘protecting the small-scale sector’ to mean?
