At least 20 people were killed and hundreds of others were hospitalised following a series of explosions at a military camp in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, on 7 March. Residents were seen going through the rubble to find survivors while others helped transport the wounded to hospital. The cause of the explosions was not immediately clear. National television has reported how some local hospitals have been overwhelmed by the number of patients admitted, and has broadcasted images of people lying wounded on the floor of one crowded hospital.
