Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and Office of Broadband Produce ‘Home Energy Hacks’ Energy Savings Videos; Debut Is TODAY

Montgomery Energy Connection, a program led by the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), is partnering with the County Office of Broadband Programs to produce a series of videos known as Home Energy Hacks that can help residents save on energy costs and keep money in their pockets. New videos will be released on the 18th of each month, with the debut TODAY, Thursday, June 18.

Home Energy Hacks will be informative videos that are 90 seconds to three minutes long. The host of each is Larissa Johnson of DEP. The videos will provide residents with quick and easy tips to lower energy use in their homes.

The videos will be released on multiple social media platforms. DEP and County Cable Montgomery will post the videos on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. County Cable Montgomery will also house the videos on its YouTube page.

The new partnership brings another County agency into the Montgomery Energy Connection program. The Connection is a network of more than 30 County agencies, local organizations and businesses working to spread the message about home energy efficiency.

Montgomery Energy Connection’s mission is to provide County residents with user-friendly, energy-saving resources to improve their daily lives and preserve a healthy environment.

The DEP and Office of Broadband Programs partnership is a new approach to engaging the community through video and social media. The partnership exemplifies the creative measures needed to reach the public.

The Home Energy Hacks videos can be viewed on the Home Energy Hack YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjT9s__6uDfnsZ5h_yP1pcCHex-wf-bFE.
