Lake: Trout fishing was good using ice jigs tipped with wax worms, PowerBait
and meal worms. Matthew Medina reported good fishing with friends Kevin
Callahan and Travis Barnes of Albuquerque on Feb. 10. They were using ice jigs
tipped with meal worms and wax worms. It was Travis’s first ice fishing experience
and he caught his limit. The ice thickness was about 19 to 20 inches.
Charette
Lakes: Closed for the season.
Clayton
Lake: Closed for the season.
Cimarron River: Stream flow below Eagle Nest on Monday
was 1.01 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Conchas
Lake: Fishing was fair using slab spoons, blade baits and jig and grub
combinations fished deep for walleye and white bass. We had no other reports.
Costilla
Creek: Check this one out next spring.
Cowles
Ponds: We had no reports

Coyote
Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eagle Nest
Lake: Most of the ice has come off the lake and it is open to bank fishing but
as of Monday, it was still closed to boating. We had no reports from anglers.

Hopewell
Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Put this one on your list for

Lake Alice: Closed to ice

Lake Maloya:
Bank fishing in the boat ramp area was good using wooly buggers, corn and
PowerBait for trout. Most of the trout caught were stocker size fish. For

Maxwell Lake

Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Morphy Lake:

Pecos River: Streamflow near Pecos on Monday was 14.6
cfs. Fishing downstream from the town of Pecos was slow to fair using salmon
eggs for trout.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on
Monday was 39.8 cfs. Fishing was fair using salmon eggs for trout.
Red River City Ponds: Closed for the season.
Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday at the Taos
Junction Bridge was 521 cfs. Fishing in the Taos area was fair using San Juan
worms, bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, olive streamers and night crawlers for
trout. We had no other reports.
Rio Hondo: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Rio Mora: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco was 8.83 cfs. We
had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this
week.

Springer
Lake: We
had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using Fire
Balls and salmon peach PowerBait for trout. We had no other reports. For updated

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Ute Lake: Fishing for
walleye was slow with just a few caught by anglers using jigs, blade baits and
slab spoons at 45 to 60 feet. Anglers fishing for walleye also caught a few
white bass. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the low to
mid 40s.
Northwest
Abiquiu
Lake: We
had no reports from anglers this week.
Animas
River: Water
flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 182 cfs. Fishing was good using
PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing in the Albuquerque, Corrales and
Peralta drains was good using wooly buggers, worms, corn and salmon eggs for
trout. A few carp were caught by anglers using corn and PowerBait. A few
largemouth bass were caught by anglers fishing the Corrales and Peralta drains
and using small plastics and black and olive wooly buggers.
Bluewater Lake: As of this past Sunday morning, the
lake was clear of ice. The main boat ramp was closed but the secondary ramp was
open. Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait, salmon eggs and wax worms for trout.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until
further notice.
Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado
and Abiquiu were 99.8 cfs and 32.9 cfs respectively. Fishing below Abiquiu was
very good using earth worms, wax worms, salmon eggs, wooly worms, small
bead-head pheasant tails, zebra midges and red larva. We had no reports from below El Vado.
Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
El Vado Lake:
We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait,
wax worms and salmon eggs for trout. There was some ice forming on the lake on
Monday, but plenty of open water for bank fishing. For updated conditions, contact the state park

Heron Lake: Fishing from the bank was fair to good using
PowerBait and corn for rainbow trout up to 20 inches. We had no other reports.
Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez
Springs on Monday morning was 23.3 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez was slow to
fair for anglers using worms and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other
streams.
Laguna del Campo: Closed for the season.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow to fair using Fire
Balls and PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Manzano Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait for
trout. We had no reports on other species.
Navajo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
San Juan River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 364 cfs
and visibility was about 1.5 feet. Fly fishing action through the Quality
waters was good using bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, Krystal Flash emergers,
olive, white and black streamers, small leech patterns, red larva, egg patterns
and zebra midges. Trout fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using PowerBait,
Fire Balls, copper John Barrs, wooly worms and small spoons. A river
enhancement project has begun and the area between the Simon Point Day-Use Area
downriver to the Crusher Hole Day-Use Area is closed to boat and foot traffic
until March 1, 2018. Temporary closures of multiple day-use areas are expected

Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Tingley Beach: Trout fishing at the Youth and Central
ponds was fair using PowerBait, Zeke’s trout bait, wax worms, earth worms, small
Kastmasters and Super Dupers. Dave Menicucci caught two big catfish this past
week. He was using worms and fishing deep. We had no other reports.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Southwest
Alumni Pond: Mid week fishing was very good using yellow
and green PowerBait for trout. A few were also caught by anglers using salmon
eggs. Fishing slowed over the weekend.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon
eggs and worms for trout. Crappie fishing was fair using Super Dupers and small
silver and silver and red Blue Fox spinners at night for crappie. We had no
other reports.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was fair to good using Pistol
Petes, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. We had no other reports.
Caballo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing for walleye and white bass was
fair using Kastmasters and jig and grub combinations. Fishing was fair using
liver, stink bait and homemade dough bait for catfish. A few largemouth bass were
caught by anglers using jigging spoons and small plastics. We had no reports on
other species.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire
Balls, Zeke’s trout bait, corn and worms for trout. Fishing was fair using
stink bait, worms and PowerBait for catfish. John “Big Fish” Robinson of
Socorro caught a big crappie he estimated to be in the 2 to 3-poound range Feb.
9. He was using a Panther Martin. We had no other reports.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 55.8 cfs.
Fishing was fair to good using wooly buggers and wooly worms for trout. We had
no other reports.
Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait for
trout.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms
and salmon eggs for trout. We had no other reports.
Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday
morning was 0.35 cfs. Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for trout.
Fishing was fair to good using liver and stink bait for catfish. Christopher
Carver of Las Cruces reported catching 4 channel catfish in less than 30
minutes Feb. 11. He was puddle-jumping in the Las Cruces area and using stink
bait. The catfish measured in the 15 to 18-inch range.
Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Young Pond: Fishing was good for anglers using salmon
peach, yellow and green PowerBait for trout. We had no other reports.
Southeast
Alto Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and
salmon eggs for trout. We had no other reports
Bataan Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait,
salmon eggs and worms. A few catfish were caught by anglers using worms and
stink bait. We had no other reports.
Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday was 12.1
cfs. Fishing was good using small bead-head nymphs, PowerBait and salmon eggs
for trout.
Blue Hole Park Pond: Trout fishing was very good for anglers using
PowerBait and Fire Balls. We had no reports on other species.
Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city
of Alamogordo due to fire damage.
Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few trout
caught by anglers using PowerBait and salmon eggs. We had no other reports.
Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Brantley Lake: Anglers are required to catch and release
all fish here as high levels of pesticides have been found in some fish. We had
no reports from anglers this week.
Carlsbad Municipal Lake: Fishing was good using stink bait,
homemade dough bait and liver for catfish. Fishing was good using PowerBait, salmon
eggs, worms and Kastmasters for trout. We had no other reports.
Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was fair using salmon eggs, corn
and PowerBait for trout.
El Rito Creek: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Zeke’s
trout bait, salmon eggs and corn for trout. We had no other reports.
Eunice Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait,
homemade dough bait and salmon eggs for trout.
Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using worms,
PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no other reports.
Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was fair to good using copper
John Barrs, wooly buggers, salmon eggs and PowerBait for trout.
Jal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this
week.
Lake Van: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms,
salmon egg corn combinations and salmon eggs for trout. We had no other
reports.
Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using salmon
eggs and PowerBait for trout.
Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday
was 33.3 cfs. Fishing below Sumner Lake was fair using worms, salmon eggs and
PowerBait for trout. We had no other reports.
Perch Lake: Fishing was very good using olive
Pistol Petes, Fire Balls and PowerBait for trout. A few catfish were caught by
anglers using liver and homemade dough bait.
Ruidoso River: Stream flow at Hollywood was 4.22 cfs. We
had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Sumner
Lake: Fishing for walleye and white bass was slow to fair
using slab spoons, blade baits and worms. Fishing for catfish was slow, but
there were a few caught by anglers using worms. We had no other reports.
