"Towards a high degree of accountability, transparency and integrity in the EU Institutions". The main objective of the joint hearing was to allow a deep discussion at the European Parliament level about crucial issues of accountability, transparency and integrity of the EU institutions.

Considering the improvements made by the Commission to the applicable revised Code of Conduct for Commissioners, and the critical analysis of the Parliament, CONT, JURI, AFCO, LIBE Members focused on how to find out if there is still room for further development and to what extent the accepted and implemented improvements achieved by the Commission could be used to increase the level of transparency within other European institutions and consequently the trust of EU citizens.

The key conclusions of the Transparency International Report on 'the European Union Integrity System', the first ever comprehensive review of corruption and integrity risks in the EU institutions, has been also presented.
