In many Member States, thousands of people cross the EU’s internal borders every day to get to and from the workplace.
We are currently helping with a widespread process of developing new services and ways of improving cross-border access for workers to services and in particular the development of distance working (teleworking). This is a solution which reduces the traffic and pollution linked to the movement of cross-border workers.
What strategy has the Commission considered with Member States to develop cross-border teleworking centres where cross-border workers can work 1-2 days per week and which would enable them to reduce the number of hours needed for transport to and from the workplace?
