Border Patrol continues to disrupt narcotic smuggling attempts in the Rio Grande Valley

FRONTON, Texas – On Monday, March 26, Rio Grande City agents observed several Marijuana seized by Rio Grande Valley agentssubjects loading bundles of narcotics into a Chevrolet Avalanche parked near the Rio Grande. Agents responded to the area and interrupted the operation causing the driver to flee and the subjects to swim back to Mexico. Agents seized 14 bundles of marijuana at the scene. The driver abandoned the Avalanche at a nearby residence leaving behind an additional bundle of marijuana in the bed of the pickup.

The 15 bundles of marijuana weighed over 1,000 pounds with an estimated street value of $806K.

The vehicle was seized and the marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
