Today is STEM Day. November 15 is America Recycles Day and the start of American Education Week and Geography Awareness Week. November 16 is Fast Food Day. November 17 is GIS Day. All November we celebrate American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, Aviation History, and Family Caregivers.

National STEM Day: November 8

The 2019 American Community Survey estimated the total civilian population age 16+ employed in STEM occupations at 10.8 million. Women are 26.7% of the total.

National Aviation History Month: November

The 2020 M3 Survey reported the seasonally adjusted value of shipments of U.S. total defense aircraft and parts at $55.6B and nondefense at $80.9B.

National Family Caregivers Month: November

The 2019 American Community Survey counted 488,187 childcare workers; 761,338 personal care aides; and 65,992 personal care and service workers, all other.

America Recycles Day: November 15

A recent EPA study found that recycling and reuse activities in the U.S. accounted for 681,000 jobs and $37.8B in wages. The recycling rate jumped from less than 7% in 1960 to the current rate of 32%.
