Harpswood No 2 Bridge will be closed for up to four weeks from Monday 26 October 2020 to carry out bridge strengthening works. In conjunction with these works, we are utilising the road closure to undertake parapet repairs, vegetation clearance, general pointing work and a scheduled Principal Bridge Inspection to nearby Harpswood Bridge.

The two bridges carry the B4364 known as Ludlow Road over the former mill race and Mor Brook respectively at Harpswood near Bridgnorth.

While the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via the A458, B4368, B4365, A49, A4117 and B4364 by a signed diversion.

Access over the bridges for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closures.

The work will be undertaken by the council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision by the council’s term consultant WSP.

Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:-

“It is appreciated that this road closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”

Les Winwood, a local Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth West and Tasley, said:-

“This necessary work needs to be carried out as safety is paramount. We hope that it is not too inconvenient to users.”
