Homegrown
Minneapolis Food Council
invites you to attend our Open House next week. Please join the Food Council in celebrating another year of growing, processing,
distributing, eating and composting healthy, sustainable and locally grown
food. Our event will include an exciting program and delicious refreshments. More
than 30 local organizations will provide local food information and resources. We
will also provide information on the City’s garden lease program and invite you
to share your food system priorities for 2016!

Remarks about local food efforts from
Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson
Introduction of the 2016-17 Food Council
and recognition of outgoing members
Presentation from Bertrand Weber and
Andrea Northup and taste tests from MPS students, demonstrating how MPS is
sourcing local food from small, sustainable farmers in the region for
24,000 school lunches each day and engaging students in the process
Highlights from the past year of local
food system progress and presentation of 2015 "Homegrown Heroes"
Awards
Informational tables for a range of
interests with gardening and healthy eating resources, beekeeping, small
business loans and technical assistance geared toward food businesses,
community food system priorities activity and more
Delicious light refreshments incorporating
local food and inspired by the Minneapolis Public Schools Culinary &
Nutrition team and True Food Chef Council. Many thanks to
