FEMA Flood Map Service Center: Hazus
FEMA’s Methodology for Estimating Potential Losses from Disasters
Hazus is a nationally applicable standardized methodology that contains models for estimating potential losses from earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and tsunamis. Hazus uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to estimate physical, economic, and social impacts of disasters. It graphically illustrates the limits of identified high-risk locations due to earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and tsunamis. Users can then visualize the spatial relationships between populations and other more permanently fixed geographic assets or resources for the specific hazard being modeled, a crucial function in the pre-disaster planning process.

Users may select the "Hazus Application" link below to download the latest version of the software. As an alternative, you may opt to manage the download and select the items you wish to obtain.
Hazus 6.1 must be installed with ArcGIS 10.8.2.
NOTE: For detailed instructions on how to get started with Hazus 6.1, please see the "Hazus 6.1 Getting Started Guide" and "Hazus 6.1 Installation & Testing Guide" available with the software download.
FEMA's Hazus 6.1 release had major inventory data, methodology, and software improvements. As a result, all previously existing state databases must be removed and replaced with the new state data available below.
Users wishing to preserve their study regions to re-run in Hazus 6.1 will not be able to do so. Instead, users are encouraged to re-create and re-run analyses using the latest Hazus 6.1 software and state databases.
If necessary, users can save and export any enhanced state databases or study regions from your previous Hazus version(s) to a known file location. Users will only be able to view and export data from older study regions.
For more information, please refer to the "Hazus 6.1 Getting Started Guide", "Hazus 6.1 Installation Guide", and "Hazus 6.1 Uninstallation Guide".
