MOTION FOR A RESOLUTION on US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

Motion for a European Parliament resolution on US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

The European Parliament,

 having regard to the Motion for a European Parliament resolution under Rule 143 entitled ‘US-President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize’, tabled by MEP Christine Anderson and MEP Joachim Kuhs,

 having regard to Rule 143 of its Rules of Procedure,

A. whereas under President Trump, the United States of America has not started any new military conflicts or invaded any countries, in stark contrast to the record of his predecessors;

B. whereas President Trump has succeeded in brokering peace agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain – the first such agreements for more than 25 years;

C. whereas President Trump has also successfully brokered political and economic agreements between Serbia and Kosovo;

D. whereas President Trump has worked hard for a peace treaty with North Korea and had a meeting with Kim Jong-Un in 2018 – the first ever held between a US President and a North Korean leader;

E. whereas US forces played a role in the final defeat of the Islamic State in Syria in 2019;

1. Proposes that US President Donald Trump be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize;

2. Calls on the Council and the Commission to support this proposal on behalf of the European Union.
