Deputy Injured Participating in Handgun Training
Boulder County, Colo.--
At about 9:40 a.m. on September 10, 2015, a deputy with
the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was injured while participating in the department’s
monthly handgun training. The deputy was on the firing line, drew his weapon,
engaged the target, holstered his weapon and turned to the range training
deputy and said he believed he shot himself in the leg.
Deputies
immediately provided emergency first aid and he was transported to a local
medical center for treatment. The deputy was alert and talking to emergency
medical personnel while he was transported.
The deputy’s
name will not be released until all family members are notified of the
incident.
The Longmont
Police Department is assisting the Sheriff’s Office in the investigation, as
the range where the incident occurred in within the city limits of Longmont.

County Sheriff’s Office case number for this incident is 15-5189. The Longmont
Police Department’s case number for this incident is 158144.
