President Obama visits Detroit

Detroit had the honor of welcoming President Barack Obama to our city on Wednesday, January 20. The president’s visit included lunch at the Jolly Pumpkin in midtown, a visit to the North American International Auto Show and a trip to the UAW GM Center for Human Resources. His speech at the UAW highlighted ways his administration has helped the resurgence of the auto industry and how proud he is of where Detroit is heading.

Report safety issues in Detroit schools

Mayor Duggan has launched city-wide school inspections with the heads of the Buildings, Safety, Engineering and Environmental Department. Mayor Duggan is asking that parents, students and teachers report any safety concerns about Detroit schools by filling out this form: bit.ly/SafeSchoolsDetroit.

Register for presidential primary elections

Detroit residents born on or before March 8, 1998 are eligible to register at this time. Electors who registered, voted or transferred in Detroit since January, 1 1998 are not required to register. Those who have moved from one Detroit address to another since they last voted may transfer at the Department of Elections in person, by mailing a signed notice no later than Monday, February 8, 2016, giving old and new addresses. Anyone who registered prior to January 1, 1998 but have not voted since, should re-register, if they have not already done so.

Registrations and transfers may be executed at the Department of Elections, 2978 W. Grand Blvd. Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.and on Monday, February 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information, call (313) 876-0190.

Drop In Ceramic Class
