Dangerous Heat Continues Across the South for Memorial Day; Severe Thunderstorms Along the East Coast

A dangerous early-season heat wave over south Texas, the Central Gulf Coast, and southern Florida will persist through Memorial Day. At or near record daily high temperatures and heat index readings over 115 degrees are possible. Severe storms have exited the region early this morning. Portions of southern and eastern KY will see some lingering light rain early this morning before conditions dry out. After a very active stretch of weather, the rest of this week looks pleasant and dry. Expect less humidity with cooler nights (morning lows generally in the 50s).
Damage survey crews are headed out to assess damage from the May 26th, 2024 Event. These are the locations they will head to today and other possible damage survey locations. Information will be updated as survey results are determined.
